Delta Phi Epsilon is an International social sorority, with chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Founded in 1917 at New York University School of Law, 5 women took an oath of sisterhood that created DphiE. It was created as the one of the first non-sectarian (not affiliated with religion) sororities and also the first sorority founded at a professional school. Currently there are over 48,000 initiated members worldwide in over 20 different countries with new members being initiated each year. Our organization also has collegiate and alumnae chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
The Phi Psi Chapter of DphiE at Keene State College was founded on March 31, 1984 by 12 women in a small room in Randall Hall. The fraternity Zeta Beta Tau, now Sigma Pi, help to develop our current chapter, and we recently celebrated our chapter’s twenty-fifth anniversary.
Today we have twenty-three active sisters in our sorority and continue to grow with each semester. In Spring 2009 we received the award for "Most Outstanding Greek Organization" at Keene State College. As a sisterhood, we participate in many community service opportunities like freshmen move in day, cleaning the Asholuet River, helping at the Soup Kitchen, and much more. Along with helping out our community, we raise money throughout the year for our 3 philanthropies (The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD), and the Delta Phi Epsilon Educational Foundation) by hosting events such as Deepher Dude, which is a male beauty pageant between the fraternities! Our official DphiE house is located on Keene State College campus, at 27 Appleton Street, right across from Pondside II.
